I think we're going to have a Halloween party this year. I'm not sure, but we're thinking about it. I've been perusing the Halloween recipe pages and this one stood out. I don't think I'm going to make it, but it is hilarious!

I found it on About.com and it made laugh and gag all at the same time.

Kitty Litter Cake

1 spice or German chocolate cake mix

1 white cake mix

2 large packages vanilla instant pudding mix, prepared

1 large package vanilla sandwich cookies

green food coloring

12 small Tootsie Roll candies

1 new kitty litter pan

1 new kitty litter pan liner

1 new pooper scooper

Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans).
Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble.
Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but about 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix until completely colored.
When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. Important: mix in just enough of the pudding to moisten it. You don't want it too soggy. Combine gently.
Line a new, clean kitty litter box. Put the cake/pudding/cookie mixture into the litter box.
Put 3 unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls bury them in the mixture. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly on top of everything -- this is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter.
Heat 3 Tootsie Rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake; sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Spread remaining Tootsie Rolls over the top. For the coup de gras take one Tootsie Roll and heat until pliable, hang it over the side of the kitty litter box, sprinkling it lightly with cookie crumbs. Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around for a truly disgusting effect!

Star Cupcakes

I was trying to make a Sheriff Woody Cake. I couldn't find Woody the Cowboy or even Buzz Lightyear cake toppers anywhere!
So, I was walking through the Dollar Tree trying to find party favors and I happened upon star shaped cupcake holders. Reynolds Wrap, I think.
Too cute, this is how they turned out. Cute little Sheriff Woody Badges, don't you know?

Turtle Brownies

This isn't really an original recipe, but wanting to relieve everyone's sweet tooth this evening, I made some brownies.

This was just an regular package of fudge brownies, but I had some chocolate chips that I added to the mixture before I put it in the pan. Yum!

Then I decided to pull out some pecans and chop them for a topping.

Oh, I know, how about some caramel? I had a bag of caramels, so I pulled about 20 out, put them in a saucepan with a dash of milk (I don't know what a dash is...) ... really, I just covered the bottom of the saucepan with milk and then added the caramels. I melted them, stirring occasionally, and then drizzled the caramel over the brownies.

Yummy!!!

Chicken Pockets

This is a recipe I got from a friend of mine when my oldest son was still a toddler. It remains one of our favorites. It's easy and yummy!
Feel free to sneak other vegetables in the mixture if you like. I sometimes add carrots or peas. I'll try to post a picture of this next time I make it.

Chicken Pockets

6 oz. cream cheese, softened

4T. milk

2 T. butter, softened

4 cups diced cooked chicken

1/2 cup finely chopped celery

1/2 onion chopped

1/2 tsp. salt

dash of black pepper

2 cans (8 oz. each) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

2 T. butter, melted

Parmesan cheese

Preparation -
Mix the cream cheese, milk, and softened butter together and beat until smooth. Add the diced chicken, chopped celery, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well, then set aside. Separate each can of the crescent dough into 4 rectangles. (Do not separate it into 8 triangles as you would for dinner rolls. Press the extra perforations together to seal.) Spoon about one half cup of the cream cheese/chicken mixture onto the center of each piece of dough. Fold the dough in half over the chicken. Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal. Place the filled pockets an ungreased cookie sheet. Brush top of the dough with the melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 8 pockets.
